Moments that make me laugh...

Whenever I'm down and out, my kids and husband totally step up to the plate and make me laugh. Berlynn spent the week saying funny things, here are a couple.
Sunday
Berlynn: Mom I like Jesus but I don't want him to take my skin!
Mom: Jesus doesn't take our skin. don't worry.
Berlynn: He does Mom, He really does!
Monday (at random)
Berlynn: Jesus is going to take away all of our skin!
Mom (light bulb): Ohhhh Sin not skin. Jesus will take away our SIN! lol

After a long day, the girls are arguing...
Jeremy (a whine): I want to run away
Berlynn (with a scrunched up face and tears on the spot): If you run away, who would be our DAD!

A memory...
Mom (getting dressed): Paris will you hand me that.
Paris (holding my bra age 3): Do you need your booby shelf?

Thank you to my husband! Every night that I come home, the dishes are already done. He is wonderful!

One Rough Week...

I really shouldn't label the whole week as rough, since it's just Wednesday, but... well let's just say, when you hit bottom, there is only one way to go. Hopefully that will be the direction for us, soon. But I'm ready to call this week, and start a new.
Monday started as usual. I'll just be honest since only my closest friends and family read this blog. I started spotting during the day (which is never a very good sign, when you're pregnant).
On my way home from basketball practice, Jeremy called me to tell me that our neighborhood was being evacuated. Yes, a mandatory evacuation had been issued because the refinery, practically in our back yard, caught fire. They were worried about an explosion because the fire was in between four other tanks, at least one contained gasoline. I'm sure this is because I needed to go home so badly to plop on my couch!
So we decided to go to dinner. A bunch of neighbors met up at Iggy's for dinner, since we were all kicked out of our kitchens. It was fun to go out as a big group, but I wasn't feeling very well and just wanted to be home.
Finally, we got word that other neighborhoods were being evacuated, so we figured we would need to get a hotel for the night (I had pre-packed bags). So we drove to Layton. You guessed it, right after we checked into our hotel in Layton, we got word that we could return home. This was especially wonderful because it was already 10:00pm, and we have to be up at 5:30am.
By the time I woke up on Tuesday morning, I was worse. My basketball team was scheduled to play Layton High after school, and I was planning on taking both kids with me on the bus, then cross my fingers for good behavior (all for naught). I ran to the store during lunch for supplies, hopped for the best, and got on the bus. The worst part about it was, I was trapped. I didn't have a car and I just got worse and worse all night.
Like an answer to my prayers a college friend of mine ended up coming to the Varsity game and I was able to catch a ride home after that game (rather than staying a few more hours for the last game).
I called in a substitute and took the day off today so that I could go to the Dr. I knew things didn't look hopeful. I still tested positive, so my Dr. sent me to the hospital for a stat ultrasound and blood work. After an exhausting, emotional day, the results confirmed my fears. The baby is gone.
I was excited for a new addition to our family, so I ordered a baby hammock (a hushamok) online. Ironically, it arrived on our front porch today. Yes today, of all days! Why? Because this is hell week. Of course it would arrive today.
I'm a little bit of a wreck. I feel really bad for my husband and children who were beyond excited. I feel like I let them down in a way, although they are all handling the news well. Some of you know how I feel. 30% of pregnancy's end this way, and possibly more for those who miscarry without knowing. Thank you to friends who have reached out to me and shared in my pain.
Even though it would be easy to wallow, I feel blessed. I have two daughters who are healthy, and a husband who loves me and takes care of me. I have a job that I love. The only thing I need now is a new week, so I can start again, fresh.

Blog Guilt

Yes it's true, I've been horrible at updating my blog lately. I have blog guilt! We've had a wonderful Christmas break, I wish I could post pictures, but right before Christmas we went to the girls gymnastics recital and Berlynn dropped our camera and it broke.

Santa brought our family a Wii for Christmas, and we all love it. Paris is playing baseball right now. It was really funny to watch Jeremy fight Darth Vader with his light saver.

Berlynn turned five on the 30th. We didn't know what to do for her birthday, it's such a tricky time of year, right after Christmas. We ended up at Chucky Cheese's for a very last minute party. It was sooooo crowded, it took them like an hour and a half to bring out our pizza, I'm not even kidding! But Berlynn got to dance with Chucky Cheese, no one can tell her it wasn't the best birthday ever.

Basketball season is on, we're officially finished with our pre-season games. My Sophomore team is 5 & 1, our varsity team holds the same record. I knew I would love coaching, what I didn't know was how much time it would consume. Most weeks we play 2 games. On game days I end up being gone from 6:30 in the morning until 10 or 11 at night. 16 or 17 hour days. But it is so rewarding to watch the girls improve their game. Jeremy has picked up a lot of the house work and has rushed home to be with the kids so I can go coach. I wouldn't be able to do it if Jeremy wasn't willing to do so much. The girls love daddy nights, of course. Usually it means their favorite dinner, pizza! It also means movie night for them. Jeremy loves to take them to blockbuster to let them choose a movie, then he pops popcorn and watches a princess movie with the girls. Who would have thought Jeremy could pull off the princess thing so well with our family of girls!

The highlight of our Christmas vacation was visiting St. George for the new year. We stayed in a hotel and made a vacation of it! The girls went swimming every day (sometimes 2 x). We got to visit our families and play with cousins. I even got to hit the town for a little girls night out with some old friends! We were up all night laughing. I felt young again! It's true, I don't get out enough! The best part was the warm weather, 50 degree nights, 60 degree sunny days! I love winter time in St. George. I forget how beautiful all of the red dirt is until I get down and visit.

I'll get the camera up and running so I can post some pictures!
